DVD was a new format in 1997-`1998. No competition other than VHS, as mentioned. Adoption rates were already on the rise by 2000 (nearly all new PC's were equipped with DVD ROM by the end of 1999), PS2 was a cheap way to have a game system and DVD player in one. No doubt it was a smart move by Sony, but it certainly was not the reason DVD succeeded.

This game needs more than a patch to make it cool.
There is no mention of a sister in the books (not that I recall, it's been a while), and we can't even confirm that this happened pre-entry into the Spartan program. It could possibly be post-entry and could be him and Kelly. I would LOVE to see Kelly come along with him to "Finish the Fight", of course there would have to be some crazy stuff for that to happen.
I think it is more likely a "sprint" button, like in Gears. This would make sense to me, especially in objective games where you need to get to a bomb or flag ASAP. I don't doubt that the "sheild" will be a part of gameplay, but more likely as a "grenade type" of thing that is picked up during gameplay. If everyone had a shield everytime they hit "X" then that would be ridiculous, and seriously take away from the fast paced gameplay that Halo has tradit...

This game has the potential to be a system seller. My good friend bought an XBOX specifically for the Max Payne games, even though he's not much of a gamer. I was in the process of talking him into getting a 360 for Alan Wake, but now that it's coming in '08 he will surely wait a little longer to get that 360.

Go buy a 360 and download the indie arcade games coming out like Small Arms, or go out and get the Burger King games. A lot of unlockables, acheivements, and PLENTY of simple fun. That's what I'm talking about.
Here comes the flood of hacks, cheats, mods, and whatever else the geek squad can come up with. Like the original XBOX it's OS was so wide open for these kind of violations. If Sony wanted to make a computer then this is great, but if they want a good/safe online experience then they're gonna have some work to do. You thought cheating on Halo 2 was bad for XBOX, well just wait for what comes out on PS3.
